PR and marketing services provider Adventis says that healthcare business has declined this year and this means that its 2010 profit will around one-half of initial forecasts.
House broker Arbuthnot was forecasting a profit of £1.97m in 2010 but this profit looks more likely to be just over £1m. That excludes the £310,000 charge relating to a libel settlement earlier this year. Adventis made £1.25m profit in 2009.
Healthcare has always been a strong core business for Adventis, particularly as property has been a weak sector in recent years. Campaign delays have hit media planning and buying.
In contrast, the technology and telecoms business has done well in the first half, helped by the February acquisition of Oxfordshire-based bChannels. In 2009, bChannels made a pre-tax profit of £435,000 on revenues of £2.58m.
At 12.25p a share, down 3.25p, Adventis is valued at £5.82m.
