A delay in a contract to supply the US military with its BreathScan product has led to a fall in revenues at diagnostic products developer Akers Biosciences Inc.
Revenues slumped from $3.43m to $1.18m in the six months to June 2009, and Akers swung from an underlying profit of $251,000 to a loss of $336,000. The first half of 2008 included $733,000 of licensing revenues which were not repeated in the first half of 2009.
It is difficult to assess when the BreathScan alcohol detection system contract will kick in.
Net cash declined but it was still $3.89m at the end of June 2009.
At 23.25p a share, up 0.25p on the day, Akers is valued at £26.4m.
Akers has agreed to supply rapid malaria tests to Ghana.
