Lord Ashcroft is taking a 21.2% stake in wealth management firm Arc Fund Management.

His Mayfair Ltd company is investing £2.1m at 8p a share. Broker Fiske has raised a further £900,000 gross at 11p a share.

Arc increased its revenues from £623,000 to £1.63m in the six months to June 2007, while profits jumped from £58,000 to £324,000. At the end of June Arc had cash and financial assets of £4m.

Arc believes that its concentration on high net worth individuals will help to lessen the effect of any economic downturn.
