One of the original backers of Aim adviser Arden Partners has more than doubled his stake to 11.6%.

Non-executive director Grahame Whateley bought nearly 1.69m shares on 26 January. Whateley is boss of property investor Cedar Invest.

Whateley sold 500,000 shares at 162p each when Arden floated in July 2006. That reduced his stake to 1,174,030 shares. This is the first purchase since then. The share price is currently 36.5p, valuing Arden at £9m.

At that price, the additional shares will have cost nearly £620,000, compared with the £800,000 raised in 2006.
