Avingtrans reported lower full year profits.

The engineer’s underlying profits fell from £3.2m to £1.8m on revenues 3% higher at £41.2m in the year to May 2008.

The final dividend of 0.75p a share means that the total dividend for the year is 1.25p a share.

Steve McQuillan has joined the company as chief executive. He was previously at Serco.

Avingtrans has an aerospace factory in China so the news that Airbus is considering moving some of its component manufacturing to China is positive for the company. Earlier this month Avingtrans won a contract with Rolls-Royce.

Management warns that this year’s outcome is dependent on winning more business.

David Buxton of FinnCap forecasts earnings per share of 7.9p a share in 2008-09.
