Marketing services group Cagney will report a first half loss for 2007 but it believes that the investment it has put in will bear fruit in the second half.

Revenues are growing both organically and thanks to the acquisition of market research company Tree. The group added 22 clients to its existing customer base in the first six months of 2007. Management says that cross referral business is growing. The fact that the businesses are based near to each other in London helps Cagney to take advantage of these opportunities. Tree moved in with Chick Smith Trott during the period.
Cagney has been careful in choosing its acquisitions. It is currently in discussions with potential acquisition targets.
The shares dipped 0.125p to 3.875p following the trading statement.
