Marketing services company Cagney says that its gross profits will rise this year but it will still report an overall loss.
The extra gross profit will be swallowed up by the costs of increasing its staff and infrastructure.
Full year gross profit should reach at least £7.6m in 2007 – 38% higher than the previous year. However, that would still mean that Cagney would report an operating loss of £500,000.
Cagney has added 15 new clients since June. There are still potential contracts that could affect this result. Cagney might even be able to move into profit at the operating level. It is best to be cautious, though, and assume that this work may come through next year.
