Healthcare properties developer CareCapital Group says that a placing raising £1.08m at 1.5p a share will “have almost completed the deleveraging” of the business.

The placing almost doubles the number of shares in issue. The share price fell 0.62p to 1.82p a share, valuing the existing share capital at £1.4m.

More than one-fifth of the shares placed were taken up by CareCapital chairman Dr Michael Sinclair. Dr Sinclair owns 21.3% of CareCapital. Three other directors, including chief executive Paul Stacey, also took up shares.

Medical centre developments are pre-sold and CareCapital is building up a cancer diagnosis and treatment services division, including a 28.75% stake in Advanced Proton Solutions Holdings, which is developing a Proton Beam Therapy Centre in Moorgate, London. The £1.037m net raised by the placing will be invested in this centre and other opportunities for the new division.
