Chelford

A strong recovery in its SAP business helped software company Chelford to improve its interim profits.

Chelford is still suffering from delayed contracts but the problems with the fixed price SAP contracts have ended. Turnover edged ahead from £9.16m to £9.34m, with the growth coming from the SAP side. Pre-tax profit almost doubled from £231,000 to £458,000 even though the Chelford Solutions division contributed less than in the first half of 2006. That was mainly down to the costs of developing Microsoft products and services which led to a loss of £114,000.

Inter Link Foods was a customer but it owed little when it went into administration and there is scope to generate revenues from baker McCambridge Group, which bought the Inter Link businesses.

Charles Stanley forecasts that full year profits will rise from £1m to £1.7m. The current order book suggests that Chelford is well on the way to that full year result but it still needs to win additional business.
