Enterprise software supplier Chelford Group is in talks with a potential bidder.

It was forced to reveal the potential bid after its shares jumped 16.5p to 173.5p.

Many of its Aim peers, including K3 and Sanderson, are keen to grow by acquisition and there are other consolidators in the market.

Chelford’s profits fell in 2006 because of delayed contracts and losses on fixed price SAP work. Its 2007 profit is expected to have recovered from £1m to £1.7m.
