Clipper Ventures has re-signed the VELUX Group as sponsor of the VELUX 5 Oceans race in 2010-2011 and it the money it is paying has increased.
The terms haven’t been disclosed but “the investment has been significantly increased from the initial contract negotiated in 2005”, according to Clipper. There was higher than expected media interest in the previous race.
The VELUX 5 Oceans race is 25 years old and it is the longest single-handed yacht race in the world. Clipper bought the race in 2002 and originally signed up VELUX in 2005 as sponsor of the 2006-07. They will have more time to exploit the potential of the next race, which will start in France or Spain.
