Eleksen’s administrator has sold its assets to Peratech Ltd for £300,000.

Yorkshire-based Peratech was formed in 1996 and has developed technology involving Quantum Tunnelling Composites. When they are deformed they switch from being a virtually perfect insulator into a metal-like conductor. The components are manufactured in Darlington. They can be used in switching and sensing operations.

One of the uses of the QTC technology is in textile switches and sensors so Eleksen’s ElekTex technology fits well with this. Both businesses have launched textile clothing and products onto the market. Peratech acquired SOFTswitch’s operations in this area in 2006.

According to QTCs inventor David Lussey, Peratech is now the leading supplier in the smart fabrics market. Peratech started to commercialise its products in 2006.

Peratech has entered a memorandum of understanding with Keybo Technology Ltd to license it the Eleksen Bluetooth Keyboard. Billingshurst-based Keybo was incorporated on 8 January 2008.

Eleksen lost £3.21m in the six months to June 2007 and it had net total liabilities of more than £3m.
