Fountains has received more than one bid approach.
The forestry services and grounds maintenance business says that the discussions are still at an early stage.
The share price jumped 14.5p to 72.5p, which values Fountains at £10.9m. Fountains joined Aim in December 1996 at a placing price of 75p.
