Goldplat has placed the Kilmapesa gold mine in Kenya on a care and maintenance basis.
Management has to hold discussions with creditors and employees at Kilmapesa. A VAT payment claim could total generate than £1m for the business. Kilmapesa will be an asset held for sale.
This means that Goldplat is purely focused on gold recovery. The South African operation is trading strongly, and international business is being built up for the Ghana site.
There will be a loss for the year to June 2019 will be similar to the first half operating loss of more than £600,000.
