Home automation systems supplier JSJS Designs made a maiden first quarter profit in three months to December 2011.

A profit of £72,000 was made on more than halved revenues of £679,000. A loss of £151,000 was made in the first quarter of the previous year due to low margins.

Revenues grew from £444,000 to £2.22m in the year to September 2011 but the loss edged up from £853,000 to £869,000. This reflects spending on product development.

There was £14,000 in the bank at the end of September 2011 but there was a sharp increase in creditors. JSJS raised £1m last autumn and in October JSJS received a £300,000 advance royalty payment from Siemens.

JSJS has developed a product range plus distribution channels. The plan is to develop consistent sales.

At 1.2p a share, JSJS is valued at £4.43m.
