Lo-Q

Theme park virtual queuing technology developer Lo-Q has moved into profit in the first half.

Lo-Q’s Q-bot product assigns a time for a theme park ride and calls the visitors to the ride at that time. It means there is no need to queue and other parts of the theme park can be visited in the meantime. Revenue jumped from £654,000 to £1.15m in the six months to June 2007 but this was mainly down to the sale and leaseback of systems the company has already installed. The underlying revenues increased to £753,000.

Thanks to the higher revenues and also lower costs Lo-Q swung from a loss of £61,000 to a profit of £14,000.

April and March were slow but May and June were busier. This year’s Q-bot revenues are expected to be “materially higher” than last year. Parks that use the Q-bot include Dollywood and many of the Six Flags group’s parks. Lo-Q is now managing the systems in use in Six Flags parks and this has helped increase revenues. Management is looking at other uses for the system.
