BBC has started to broadcast Ludorum’s animated series Chuggington.

The first episode of the train-based series went out on 29 September. This is six months earlier than originally expected. More than 80 countries are likely to see the series over the next 12 months. There is also a website for two-six year olds.

Demand for home entertainment rights is strong.

This means that Ludorum will start to generate revenues in the second half of 2008. The company’s interim loss increased from £588,000 to £1.05m in the six months to June 2008. That was due to higher admin expenses.

There was a cash outflow of £1.19m during the period. The cash balance is down to £565,000. Two directors are still owed £96,000 of their pay.

Ludorum has an overdraft facility of £300,000 and a loan facility of £1.2m. They are not being used yet.

Ludorum’s deal with DC Thomson will yield new animated series of Dennis & Gnasher and Marvo the Wonder Chicken. Ludorum will develop more projects and look for acquisitions.

Ludorum shares edged up 1p to 108.5p, valuing the company at £8.79m.
