Motive Television says that its broadcast TV technology is being used in 300,000 homes in Italy through broadcaster Mediaset and the first potential customer in the US is about to test the technology.
The figures for 2011 will be in line with expectations and the company is in a good position to reap the benefits of the integration of recent acquisitions. The technology has been rebranded Television Anytime Anywhere.
The TV Anytime technology uses spare capacity on the channels transmitting to TV set top boxes to transmit other programming and enable the viewers to watch it when they want to. The broadcasters like the technology because it gives them a chance to generate additional revenues from subscriptions.
Digiturk is almost ready to launch the technology and Granite Broadcasting Corporation’s TV station in San Francisco is about to start test marketing. Another test is planned in Peru. Further pilots are likely in 2012. There will also be projects to jointly develop the technology so it meets the needs of individual broadcasters.
The key to the future will be signing deals for the full deployment of the technology. Economic uncertainty has led to broadcasters becoming increasingly cautious. The US market does appear to be more optimistic.
At 0.14p a share, Motive TV is valued at £3.84m. Motive TV raised £1.02m at 0.14p a share last October.
