Nviro Cleantech has signed up a US partner for its Vertus clean coal technology.

Cincinnati Bulk Terminals, a coal handling and delivery company, will help Vertus set up a 100,000 ton per annum reductive thermal process (RTP) unit on the Ohio River. Vertus will build and operate the plant. Production should start before the end of 2008. This coal will be sold to the industrial boiler market. The Ohio coal market is more than 2m tonnes a year. The partners expect to build more plants.

Vertus has already formed a joint venture in China and India is expected to be another important initial market because of the extensive use of coal in power generation and its wish to reduce pollution. It is negotiating potential contracts in China and India.

At 48.5p, Nviro is capitalised at £21.3m.
