Oxonica shares more than doubled after more positive news about its Envirox fuel borne catalyst.

The shares jumped 27p to 49.5p after a trial by bus operator Stagecoach showed fuel savings of 4.3% in its bus fleet in north west England. This is broadly in line with the original tests in 2004. Stagecoach will continue to use Envirox in its 7,000 UK buses. Lab tests showed an 18% fall in particulate emissions.

A bus trial in Italy showed fuel savings of 4.8% after three months and 10.6% over six months. A separate lab test in Italy showed a reduction in particulate emissions of up to 19%.

Initial sales have been made in Germany and Russia. This is reassuring after the disappointment of last year’s Petrol Ofisi trials in Turkey.
