Pilat Media Global has received a 26.5p a share offer from one of its rivals.

Just like Pilat Media, Sintec Media develops business management software for broadcasters. There is no certainty that the bid will succeed but Pilat Media says the intention is to effect a merger.

The news sparked a 9p rise in the Pilat Media share price to 22p, which values the company at £13m.

The announcement was made without the consent of Sintec.

Sintec was established in 2002 and has offices in New York, Denver, Toronto, London, and Jerusalem. The company’s broadcast management system is called OnAir. UKTV, which owns channels such as Dave, Alibi and Watch, is the first UK television broadcaster to use the system.

Pilat Technologies International Ltd spun off Pilat Media on 26 February 2002. Each shareholder received one Pilat Media share for every Pilat Technologies share they owned. Pilat Media raised £3.4m at 20p a share at that time.
