Sapphire producer Richland Resources Ltd has appointed Tony Brooke as chief executive.

He replaces Bernard Olivier and steps up from vice president of marketing and sales at the Richland subsidiary Capricorn Sapphire.

Brooke has 36 years experience of the ruby and sapphire industries and managed mines in Tanzania and Thailand.

In the two months to December 2017, $183,399 was generated from sapphire sales. That takes quarterly sales to $545,000.

A strategic review is ongoing and mining is suspended. There is exploration activity.

Brooke had a deal with Richland via his Gem Dreams business. He has been issued 3.58 million shares in lieu of commission of $42,717 earned over the 13 months to December 2017. Gem Dreams has been given a sales support contract for $2,500 a month in replacement of existing arrangements.
