Books retailer Samedaybooks is buying online books retailer Country Bookshop for £500,000 in cash and shares.

Samedaybooks is the book selling and magazine subscription website countrybookshop.co.uk and a book community website booksconnect.co.uk. The former owner of these assets will retain control of a retail outlet and the Peak Book Festival. This is the first deal done by Charles Denton since he took control of Samedaybooks. The businesses will be integrated into the main business and there are plans to move into the Indian market.
Denton owns 15% of internet auction services business Auction Assist and Samedaybooks is in talks to acquire the business.
The group’s name will be changed to ArgentVive and it plans to acquire internet-based businesses. There will be three divisions: Technology will focus on knowledge management and enterprise portals, Training will provide e-learning and apprenticeships, while Trading will run the e-commerce operations.
