Former Television Corporation boss Terry Bate has taken over as chairman of Talent Group.
Talent is a TV production company. It makes the Test The Nation programme for BBC1 and this format has also been sold to Japanese TV. It also makes children’s and entertainment programming. Talent has a development deal with the Fleming Media Fund to create online social networking gaming opportunities.
Talent swung from profit to loss in the year to September 2007 as revenues dipped from £5.42m to £3.33m.
Bate bought 12.5% of the company from outgoing chairman Robert Benton at 6p a share. The 74 year old is a well known figure in the TV industry and has decades of experience. He wants to restructure and refinance the business. He is also keen to grow the business through acquisition.
At 7.25p a share the company is valued at £1.18m.
