Ultima Networks says that its electric bicycles business has helped it grow turnover by 20% in the first half of 2008.

Demand for electric bicycles has exceeded expectations and later in July a new bicycle will be launched that has a smaller battery and is lighter.

Sales of legal software have been weaker and Ultima’s subsidiary Cognito has been investing in product development.

The interim results will be released in September. Last year, Ultima reported an interim profit of £70,000.

The shares rose 0.13p to 1.58p, valuing Ultima at £3.22m.
