Aim broker XCAP Securities moved into profit in the six months to February 2011 thanks to bumper profits from its market making arm.

XCAP makes markets in 265 stocks and it made a profit of £1.9m in the period.

XCAP has slimmed down its institutional broking side to three people in the six months and they generated revenues of more than £600,000.

Total interim revenues were £5.29m – XCAP did not trade for the whole of the comparative period. The pre-tax profit is £409,000. Net cash was £489,000 at the end of February 2011.

XCAP has 18 corporate clients with more to come.

At 4.88p a share, XCAP is valued at £18.9m.
