An associate company of CareCapital has obtained planning permission for a Proton Beam Therapy Centre in Moorgate, London.

Proton beam therapy is a type of particle therapy that uses a beam of protons to irradiate diseased tissue. The NHS currently pays £150,000 per patient to send them abroad to receive proton therapy treatment for cancer and this new facility will reduce the cost. Hospitals in the area include Bart’s, Guys, the Royal London, Moorfield, Great Ormond Street and St Thomas.

CareCapital owns 28.75% of Advanced Proton Solutions Holdings, which will develop the centre with Valentine Investments. APS, which has four projects in the US, will also operate the centre.
