CEPS

CEPS has quadrupled its reported profit helped by an initial contribution from Sunline Direct Mail.

The investment company’s profits jumped from £101,000 to £408,000 in the six months to June 2007. Horse matting and body armour supplier Davies Odell and lycra printer Friedman’s both did better than expected. They are seeing the benefits of last year’s restructurings of each of the businesses. The direct mail business also did better than expected.

Davies Odell experienced weak trading in July but it has recovered in August. It has been hit by a change in fashion away from replacement stiletto heel top-pieces. Better news is the deal with Kawasaki Europe to supply back protectors which will be co-branded with its own Forcefield brand.

CEPS is looking at a number of potential acquisitions that could either benefit the existing businesses or take the group into a new area.

Management expects to recommend a full year dividend.
