Haydale Graphene Industries

South Wales-based Haydale Graphene Industries, which has developed a new process that will help to commercialise graphene and other nanomaterials, plans to raise £10m in April, having already raised £4.4m since 2010.

A low pressure plasma process produces layered graphenes without the need to use acids. The process can reduce impurities in the material.

Chief executive Ray Gibbs is a former finance director of Image Scan.

It is unclear what valuation will be put on Haydale but the connection with graphene could attract investors. It will be impressive if Haydale can raise the £10m it is seeking. This is an early-stage business and even £10m may not be enough to get it to the point where it is generating cash.
