Judges Capital expects to double its interim earnings per share.

The scientific instruments manufacturer started the year with a strong order book and it has made a strong start to the year.

In the first half of 2007 the adjusted earnings per share figure was 4.09p. That suggests earnings per share of more than 8p in the six months to June 2008.  The 2007 full year adjusted earnings per share were 12.9p.

Management is cautious about the full year outlook and warns that Judges may not be able to maintain this rate of growth.

The shares rose 3p to 121p.

On 21 May, Judges raised £525,000 at 110p a share – the net proceeds were £479,000. Management hopes that this placing with private investors will help to improve liquidity
