Instrumentation supplier Judges Scientific says that its underlying 2010 profit will be better than expected.

Underlying interim profit increased from £848,000 to £1.47m. Analysts had been expecting a full year profit of around £2.5m.

Slater Investments cut its stake to below 3% a few weeks before the trading statement.

Shares in Judges have risen by 154% over the past year. At 410p a share, Judges is valued at £17.1m.
