Lindsay Mair, who left Astaire in May, has become head of UK small cap sales & research at broker Merchant John East.
Mair was previously managing director of rival broker Astaire but left when the acquisition of HB fell through.
Chris Smith has joined Merchant John East from Jeffries International to cover the financials sector.
In April, the broker’s owner, Aim-quoted Merchant Securities, said that its full year profit will be significantly ahead of market expectations.
At 21p a share, Merchant Securities is valued at £9.85m.
