Northern Bear

Newcastle-upon-Tyne-based building services firm Northern Bear says that it has not made up for the reduced activity due to snow at the end of 2010.

Trading improved in January and continued to improve in the following two months and March was a particularly good month. Even so, Northern Bear expects its profit for the year to March 2011 will be below expectations. Seymour Pierce previously forecast a profit of £1.1m.

Northern Bear was slow to warn shareholders of the shortfall. There has been no trading statement since the interims in November, although the share price slumped in December.

At 11.12p a share, down 1.62p on the day so far, Northern Bear is valued at £2.09m.
