Proventec’s steam cleaning equipment will be used by the National Health Service following the company’s successful 14-month tender.

The agreement, with Proventec subsidiary Osprey DeepClean, could be extended by a further year. The government is keen to eradicate superbugs, such as MRSA and this is part of its additional investment in hospital cleaning.

The company’s dry saturated steam cleaning machines can be used on wards without having to remove the patients. They can be used every day. The equipment has been tested for 18 months and specific tools designed for use in hospitals.

The shares jumped 0.75p to 8.125p on this news.

Proventec is holding an EGM on 28 January in order to give itself the flexibility to raise cash to finance working capital. On 19 December it had cash of £578,000.
