Trading is improving at sports bars operator Sports Café but not as fast as the market hoped.
Management says that its second half trading will be much better than the same period last year and the first half of 2007. However, the 2007 loss is likely to be more than the £100,000 that was forecast.
Sports Café is making a trading profit so far in the second half but not enough to cover the first half loss. Pre-Christmas bookings are good and Sports Café is one of the few bar owners that hasn’t been significantly affected by the smoking ban.
Sports Café still expects an improvement in sales in 2008 even though England won’t be at the European Championships.
The shares held steady at 8.5p.
