Stilo International has secured a new content conversion contract with IBM.

The content management software supplier’s Stilo Migrate software will be used to convert of 30,000 pages of Adobe FrameMaker content to the IBM DITA (Darwin Information Typing Architecture) standard. Stilo Migrate enables documents to be converted to DITA on a pay-as-you-use basis.

This deal has taken many months to secure. The evaluation by IBM was mentioned in the interim figures last September.

Swindon-based Stilo returned to profit in the first half of 2010 even though revenues were flat at £1.1m. A loss of £180,000 was turned into a profit of £50,000 as admin costs were cut. Five day working restarted in Canada in June. No development costs were capitalised in the period, against £23,000 in the first half of 2009. The profit is struck after a £37,000 amortisation charge.

At 2.25p a share, Silo is valued at £2.47m. Net cash was £709,000 at the end of June 2010 and if Stilo continues to be profitable this cash pile should increase.

Trading conditions have been described by Stilo as “encouraging” and new products should make a positive contribution in 2011.

Richard Alsept has returned to Stilo as finance director, having stepped down from the role in May 2008.
