Taihua, which produces ingredients for traditional medicines, had a disappointing Forsythia harvest due to poor weather conditions.

The average selling price also fell sharply from RMB38.93/kg to RMB30.97/kg because of reduced demand and large stocks from the 2015 plus a poor quality harvest. The company’s two plantations produced 524.7 tonnes, down from 704 tonnes.

This all combined to reduce Forsythia revenues from RMB27.41m to RMB16.25m.

Taihua says it is trying to improve the hardiness of Forsythia.

The share price slumped 0.5p to 3.13p.
