Chinese natural medicine ingredients supplier Taihua hopes to complete negotiations with potential European distributors of Paclitaxel by the end of March 2010.

Paclitaxel is an anti-cancer ingredient made from yew trees. Paclitaxel is used in treatments for ovarian, breast, lung and skin cancer. The company can get a better price for Paclitaxel in Europe than in China and in September it gained a European certificate of suitability for the ingredient.

There are three pan-European distributors on the shortlist. This could also be a way for Taihua to enter the finished treatments market.

Shares in Taihua rose 0.5p to 11.5p each, valuing the company at £9.39m.
