Chinese natural medicine ingredients supplier Taihua is growing its sales thanks to a new product.

Sales in the first five months of 2011 are RMB1.6m higher at RMB13.2m. Sales of the core products were down but sales of Bian Tong Pian, a new Chinese medicine ingredient, were RMB2.4m.

Taihua has taken over the land in Shanxi province where Forsythia is grown. Taihua has to pay RMB140,000 a month for the upkeep of the plantation. The Forsythia price is currently RMB34.5/kg, which is higher than last year.

At 12.75p a share, Taihua is valued at £10.4m.
