VPhase

Voltage control device developer VPhase believes that it could be selling devices in the second half of 2008.

At the moment VPhase is taking to various manufacturers of fuse boxes and other electrical equipment, as well as utility companies. No agreements have been finalised as yet. VPhase will supply components to these manufacturers. The device is being certificated and the manufacturing partners are likely to support the testing of the device.

Energetix, which still owns 55.1% of VPhase, spotted that there was an opportunity in this area. The first unit was tested two winters ago and the energy savings were greater than envisaged. It was a non-core product and Energetix decided to spin off the business so that it could raise cash to finance the development of the product.

Chairman Adrian Hutchings believes that the £750,000 that VPhase has in the bank should see it through to production and initial sales. Longer-term, there is potential to sell the voltage control device internationally.

New chief executive Dr Lee Juby will join the company from Rolls-Royce in January.
