Furnishings supplier Walker Greenbank says that its full year profit will be much better than expected thanks to a strong autumn selling season.

Edison has increased its profit forecast for the year to January 2011 by 10% to £4.5m, against £2.4m last year. Stripping out exceptionals, pre-tax profit improved from £604,000 to £1.81m in the first half.

All the brands are doing well and there has been a strong recovery in the upmarket Zoffany brand. The fabric and wallpaper printing factories continue to benefit from strong demand.

At 44p a share, up 3.75p on the day, Walker Greenbank is valued at £26m. The shares are trading on less than eight times 2010-11 prospective earnings.
