Oil and gas investment company Westmount Energy Ltd is set to change strategy following a share subscription by two new directors.

Gerry Walsh and Thomas O’Gorman are investing £440,000 at 20p a share. That was a 11% premium to the previous close. The share price jumped 11.5p to 29p, which values the current share capital at £2.18m.

Walsh and O’Gorman will own 22.6% of Westmount and they are experienced in finding and developing energy assets and companies. Westmount has been a passive investor in other companies but this may signal a move to acquire its own oil and gas assets.

O’Gorman was involved in the appointment of the management team that turned miner Lapp Platts into oil and gas company Cove Energy.
