Agriterra Ltd

Overview

Guernsey registered Agriterra Ltd was previously known as White Nile, which was involved in oil exploration in Southern Sudan. White Nile joined Aim on 9 February 2005, when it raised £9m gross at 10p a share. After a rollercoaster share price ride White Nile decided to change the focus of its strategy. It chose to focus on agricultural and civil engineering projects in central and southern Africa. In February 2009, Agriterra has bought 75% stakes in Desenvolvimento E Comercialização Agricola Limitada (DECA), Compagri Limitada (Compagri) and Mozbife Limitada (Mozbife) for $17m, made up of $2m in cash and 200m shares. The stakes were all previously owned by CAMEC, where Agriterra's chairman and chief executive Phil Edmonds and Andrew Groves are both directors. A share placing raised £2.36m gross at 3p a share. Mozambique-based DECA is involved in grain processing and trading. The other interests include cattle ranching. www.agriterra-ltd.com
