GEM BioFuels

GEM BioFuels is growing jatropha in Madagascar in order to produce oil for biodiesel. It has the rights to more than 450,000 hectares of land and plans to plant 200,000 hectares with jatropha plants. GEM will be based in the south of the island because this is where the jatropha plant grows wild. GEM will spend some of the £2.7m net it raised at 60p a share on crushing equipment that will enable it to produce oil from the raw material.
