Gasol floated as a shell on 16 March 2005 at 5p a share. A year later it raised just over £3m in order to retain its Aim quotation. It plans to become an Africa-focused liquefied natural gas (LNG) business. In June 2008, Gasol acquired the 80% of African LNG that it did not own in return for the issue of 623.1m Gasol shares. This changed it from and investing company into a trading company.
